I haven't played much of the original version so what I'm playing right now is all new to me. I can't really tell what's different this time, graphics look the same, controls feel the same, everything from what I played in the original is the same here.

One major criticism I have? I absurdly struggled with the second boss. At first I had thought I had to throw the knives in it's mouth when it opened, then I realized that I probably had to hit it from behind, which I was right, then for awhile I didn't realize I had to time when I moved so I had a chance of getting behind it in time to hit it. But the thing I struggled the most with? When you get hit, the enemies will respawn, this was absurdly difficult on the 4th and last hit before it would die. This wouldn't be so hard, if you could jump down from the platforms, like if you held the down button when you pressed jump, you'd jump down from the little platform. That would've saved me so much time and health points.

Overall while it's not that different from the original it's still very good.

P.S. I found a glitch where if you jump at a certain point right before the second boss, it causes it not to spawn, I think you might have already known because of the door you can go into.

The controls for this are mildly stiff to say the least, jumping from platform to platform requires extreme precision, otherwise you're gonna miss it. The hit detection is pretty janky at times, especially when it comes to when you swear you hit something but didn't. The enemies are, for the most part the most challenging part of the game. I mean, they're supposed to be right? Well, there's one enemy that I have a HUGE gripe with: Those skulls that shoot fireballs. I swear, like half of the deaths I've had in this game can be attributed to those things alone. If you could just destroy the fireballs with your attacks, this game wouldn't be so frustrating. I get that it's supposed to be extremely hard, but when it's hard because of bullshit game mechanics and enemy placement, then it's just straight up bad. There are some rooms where these fireballs make the game genuinely impossible because you avoiding them is not based on skill, but rather it's based on the chance that the skull enemies aren't shooting them in your direction. "Underground Thorns" is a good example of how NOT to make "challenging" games.

This game could definitely use some reworking, because I feel like this could be a decent game otherwise.

It doesn't give me the 1,000 points medal when I reach that amount, I doubt the 3,000 one would work either.

Game's broken.

Firstly; What is educational about this game?
And second; This is hardly even a demo, the graphics here are very very basic which I can understand but could you have published this when you had gotten the firing sound in sync when you fired the gun?

First off, this took me ages to find again because despite it having the word "blob" in the title, none of the Google search results would show this game.

Second, this game is very nostalgic to me if not just because of the Super Mario World theme remix.

The game itself is not a bad concept, you don't see too many rotating maze games like this out there because they usually tend to make one dizzy. I do like the feature of changing your character's eyes to different animated expressions.

My major problem with this though is a game breaking one, the fact that sometimes you can glitch your blob into the wall and get stuck in there causing the game to be unplayable is a major plague of these old flash games.

To start off, the game's controls are very stiff. It feels like you have to really mash the left and right keys in order to move. The way you can have the sword out and enemies will walk right into it isn't as satisfying as having to slash at them individually.

The graphics are trying to be something like Atari but the Atari 2600 could do just a little better than this, you could have drawn the ninja a pair of legs and a body and it would still look atari-esque (but the limbs would have to be made up of squares and rectangles)

And finally, when you die the screen freezes, there's no option to restart the game other than to refresh.

The first thing I noticed about this game is how incredibly bad the frame rate is. Everything moves at a snail's pace and moving your player feels like you are walking through a pool. The music in this game is downright annoying on many levels, the notes are all over the place and it feels like the songs were just slapped together out of random notes (not to mention, the music does not loop properly). The sound effects are as basic as you can get for games trying to be "retro", it's monotonous but the sounds themselves aren't particularly bad in their own right. The graphics are also very basic as Mario clones go, but my biggest complaint is that there isn't enough detail in the backgrounds. These graphics feel more like Super Nintendo than NES which is fine, but if you want to go in that direction you really need to put at least a few extra details. Like for the overworld stages why not add a few mountains or a waterfall? Something to give the game more "depth" instead of a blue sky with nothing but emptyness for miles and miles.

I'm not saying this game is downright terrible, I'm saying that it needs quite a lot more work done on it for it to be considered a decent Mario-clone platformer.

The graphics remind me of flash games from 2004-2008 which is a nice welcome but what isn't a nice welcome are the controls. The movement feels sluggish at best, and having J as the fire button makes my hands feel really cramped when jumping and shooting. I feel like L would have been a better choice for this type of control setup. The green coins as far as I'm concerned don't serve a purpose whatsoever. Maybe collecting 20 of them can earn you a free hit point?
Overall I think this should use a bit more work before it can be passable by today's standards.

Yeah, it's the alpha version. I posted it to get an opinion.

I dabble in pixelart every now and then.
