Why are the medals in-game only and not Newgrounds medals? This game would be more tolerable if you had the ability to turn off the sound effects, because that score-sound effect really gets on your nerves.

jason21745 responds:

Hi,
Thanks for your input. The medals were unfortunately not built for Newgrounds as it was originally designed as an Android app. In the cross over I hadn't thought of it.
A mute button for the score sound effect is something I could add in easily I think.
Cheers

The graphics remind me of flash games from 2004-2008 which is a nice welcome but what isn't a nice welcome are the controls. The movement feels sluggish at best, and having J as the fire button makes my hands feel really cramped when jumping and shooting. I feel like L would have been a better choice for this type of control setup. The green coins as far as I'm concerned don't serve a purpose whatsoever. Maybe collecting 20 of them can earn you a free hit point?
Overall I think this should use a bit more work before it can be passable by today's standards.

LobsterCrack responds:

Yeah, it's the alpha version. I posted it to get an opinion.

I can forgive it's simplicity but for a game that the goal is to dodge as many things as possible, you really should have a counter telling you how many falling blocks you've dodged.

If you add that in, it'll make this game a half decent time killer.

CrazyRaccoonGames responds:

I'm doing that right now.

While the concept of this game isn't exactly new, it could have been a lot more better.

For starters, the graphics are extremely basic, but they're not completely terrible.

The one thing this game absolutely needed was a score counter, a game like this needs a way to keep track of your score. Otherwise there is no point in playing it.

ediltonfigueiredo responds:

we just added a simple score system, but in time it will be improved
Many thanks for your review.

Well, this is a nice change from all the junk that gets thrown into the "under judgement pile"!
Although the title sounds a bit dubious, it got my attention. The graphics are nicely drawn and resemble a game from the Gameboy Advance era. The camera is a bit shaky when moving and jumping, which could put a few players off.

The controls are tight and responsive, but I find it odd that it's X and C and not the standard "Z and X" setup.

I would say more positive things about it except... there is a section of the first stage with the platforms that move up when you jump on them, the screen goes completely black. I refreshed my page multiple times and it still happened when I reached that point. I don't know if it is a bug in the game or if my browser cannot handle something. You should consider looking into that as it might be problematic if it's a bug for everyone.

ryogo responds:

The bug you're talking about is when you got on the purple mushroom? Nothing like what you described ever happened to me or anyone else ever playing the game... Are you using Chrome or Edge?
The camera shouldn't be shaky either like you described in the first paragraph...

Yeah, it's real nice when the game has arrow key controls that will scroll the page up and down with it.

Nocity responds:

I didn't notice this problem at first because it doesn't seem to occur in Firefox and I'm surprised I didn't find it during my routine testing in other browsers. I'll take care of it as soon as possible. I appreciate the fact that you brought my attention to it (even though your rating is somewhat painful). Thanks.

EDIT: I fixed the scrolling issue so using arrow keys should be fine now.

This is surprisingly good, I hope this gets front paged.

Jaszczomp responds:

I hope so! I spent much time creating content and implementing it into the game, so, yea, it would be nice!

As simple as a mobile phone game. Not really worth releasing on a flash game website.

DarkArcherZxZ responds:

Thank you for your honest opinion. I will be adding more features to make it a bit more complex and pc game worthy. Thanks for the review :)

How to make this better.

-Make MegaMan's walking speed like the games. It's so hard to control when he runs like Sonic the Hedgehog.

-Have a better control layout.
Z to shoot, X to jump. Enter should be pause.

-Learn how to make the music loop without the music fading out and then it starting up again.

-The auto charging is very annoying.

The main reason why people bash this game so much, is because it doesn't FEEL like a MegaMan game, the physics aren't the same as the ones on NES.

maelstormm responds:

This project will never be a clone of the NES games, was never on the books to do that. If that's the gameplay you are looking for, play them. It's irrelevant how many people bash it for not being what they want it to be, since that was never the goal for it. If peeps want a Capcom MM clone, then they can make it.

Later iterations I've figured out key customization and how to manipulate flash to do better on intro/looping etc.

Extremely dodgy controls.

Bad graphics (you could at least give them a little more detail)

It would've been better if there were sound effects instead of a really annoying tune playing in the background.

YaKuuu responds:

Firstly, Graphics are intended this way.
Secondly, there are sounds effects.

And about controls, that's probably because you've got lags. I'm currently working on the game optimization.

I dabble in pixelart every now and then.
